We believe small businesses deserve calm, honest AI guidance
akalworka is a small, considered practice in Penang. We work closely with owners who want to bring AI tools into their work without pressure or jargon.
Back to HomeStarted from a simple observation
akalworka grew out of a straightforward frustration: too many small business owners were being sold AI tools that looked impressive in a demo but sat unused three months later. The setup was rushed, the training was thin, and the owner was left with a subscription and no real benefit.
We started with a different approach. Before recommending anything, we spend time understanding how a business actually runs day to day — what takes the most energy, where the small delays happen, what records go unused. From that picture, we suggest only what genuinely fits.
Our team is based in George Town, Penang. We work primarily with Malaysian small businesses across retail, food and beverage, education, and professional services. Most of our projects are finished within four to six weeks, and we hand over every setup with clear written notes so the owner feels in control.
Make useful technology accessible without the noise
The AI landscape moves quickly, and it can feel overwhelming to know where to start. Our role is to read the landscape on your behalf and bring back only the parts that matter for a business of your size, your type, and your pace.
Unhurried
We move at a pace that lets you understand each step, not just sign off on it.
Honest
If a tool is not the right fit, we say so. We would rather lose a sale than leave you with something that does not work.
Owner-focused
Every recommendation is shaped around the realities of running a small business — limited time, limited budget, and no appetite for complexity.
A small team with a shared interest in practical tools
Ahmad Faris
Founder & AI Consultant
Ahmad spent several years in product development before turning his attention to how small businesses could realistically benefit from emerging tools. He leads each project's discovery phase.
Nurul Zahrah
Integration & Setup Specialist
Nurul handles the technical side of each setup — connecting tools, testing responses, and ensuring everything works reliably before handover. She writes the clear notes each client receives.
Ravi Kumar
Data & Dashboard Analyst
Ravi works on the dashboard service — taking messy records and turning them into summaries business owners can actually use. He has a background in data work for SMEs across the Klang Valley.
Standards we hold ourselves to on every project
Data Privacy First
We only recommend tools that handle personal and business data responsibly. We explain data flows to every client before any setup begins.
Written Handover Notes
Every project ends with a plain-language document covering what was set up, how it works, and what to do if something changes.
Tested Before Delivery
Each setup goes through a practical review period before we hand it over — we check it with real scenarios relevant to your business.
Clear Communication
We send short, plain updates at each project stage. No jargon, no overlong reports — just the information you need to stay informed.
Honest Scope Definition
We define what is included in each service before any work starts, so there are no surprises about what is covered and what is not.
Post-Setup Support Window
After handover, we remain available for questions during a two-week period to make sure the setup is running as expected.
AI integration support for small businesses in Malaysia
Small business owners across Penang, Kuala Lumpur, and the broader Malaysian market are exploring what AI tools can do for them. The challenge is rarely understanding that AI exists — it is knowing which tools are worth the time, which ones suit a business with a small team, and how to introduce them without disrupting the work that is already going well.
At akalworka, we have developed a way of working that respects these constraints. We begin every engagement by listening — understanding the shape of the business, the tasks that feel heavy, and the data that goes unused. From that foundation, we choose only the tools that address a real and specific need.
Our three current services cover the areas where AI tends to have the most immediate practical value for small businesses: answering customer questions, easing repeating tasks, and making business records readable. Each is scoped carefully, priced clearly, and delivered with the kind of documentation that means an owner stays in control long after our involvement ends.
